Our Approach to Terms of Service at MyMech

At MyMech, we want users to know exactly what to expect — and what not to — when using our platform.

As we work toward launch, we're developing Terms of Service that are fair, transparent, and grounded in how real drivers and mechanics actually use apps. Below is a summary of what the MyMech Terms of Service will cover, and the guiding principles we're using as we build it.

Key Goals

  • Plain English. The full Terms will be legally sound, but we're committed to making them understandable — not just lawyer-readable.
  • Balanced Responsibilities. We'll clarify what we're responsible for, what you're responsible for, and how disputes will be handled — without overreaching.
  • Feature-Specific Clarity. Each major part of the app (diagnostics, AI chat, parts lookup, mechanic connections) will have simple rules and disclaimers relevant to its use.
  • Protection without Surveillance. We'll secure the service from misuse and abuse, without compromising legitimate user activity or privacy.

Our ToS Will Include:

1. Who We Are and What We Offer

We'll clearly define MyMech Inc. as the service provider, and explain that MyMech is a diagnostic assistance and mechanic-matching tool — not a licensed repair service or guaranteed vehicle inspector.

2. User Eligibility

Use of MyMech will require users to:

  • Be of legal driving age in their jurisdiction (typically 18+)
  • Agree to provide accurate vehicle information (e.g. VIN) if using advanced features
  • Accept that use of the platform is voluntary and at their discretion

We'll also outline specific mechanics' or vendors' obligations if they join the platform.

3. Use of the Platform

We'll describe acceptable use — including:

  • No reverse engineering, scraping, or impersonation
  • No using the app to make repair claims, insurance decisions, or violate vehicle warranties
  • Community participation rules for forums and reviews (if applicable)

We'll reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate safety, fraud, or abuse policies.

4. AI and Repair Disclaimers

  • All AI responses are informational, not guaranteed to be accurate or safe for every situation
  • We'll advise users to consult certified professionals before performing any repairs or safety-critical decisions
  • The app will include appropriate warnings like "Use at your own risk" and "Always confirm with a certified mechanic"

5. Payment and Subscriptions (If Applicable)

If MyMech offers paid plans, the ToS will specify:

  • Pricing tiers and what's included
  • Billing cycles and cancellation rules
  • Refund or credit policies
  • Third-party app store terms (e.g. Apple, Google Play) if purchases go through them

6. Data Rights and Privacy

The ToS will link to the Privacy Policy and explain:

  • What data we collect (briefly)
  • That use of the app signifies consent to that collection
  • That users personal information is seperated from vehicle data that is used in MyMech's services.
  • Opt-out and deletion rights where applicable

7. Third-Party Links and Integrations

The ToS will disclose:

  • We may link users to parts retailers or local mechanics
  • We are not responsible for third-party services, their pricing, or their data practices
  • Any affiliate relationships (transparently disclosed)

8. Limitation of Liability

To reduce risk for both sides:

  • MyMech will not be liable for damage caused by relying solely on AI suggestions or diagnostics
  • We'll limit damages to the amount paid (if any), or cap it appropriately for free users
  • Users assume responsibility for how they use vehicle repair suggestions or third-party mechanic referrals

9. Modifications and Termination

  • Users will be notified of material changes to the Terms
  • We'll explain how users can stop using the app and request data deletion
  • MyMech reserves the right to suspend or discontinue features at any time, with notice

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • The agreement will likely be governed by the laws of Colorado, USA (or another HQ state)
  • We're exploring informal resolution and binding arbitration options to handle any disputes efficiently and privately
